Oh how I hate April Fool's Day. I totally fell for this this morning. In my defense, I only had a quick glance of the more believable perspectives in the corner of my mirror as I was rushing to get ready for work.

Weirder discoveries happen all the time. Yesterday, I read a paper that blood stem cells respond to a circadian rhythm. (Here's the news summary.) What's a poor scientist to do?

Yea, well, certain people in my new lab posted that I was giving a department talk tomorrow. While I didn't fall for it in the slightest (it was too unsubtle), it annoys me for several reasons:

a) People in other labs came up and asked "Are you giving the talk tomorrow?"
b) I've only been in my new lab a couple of months, but I could readily give a talk. It would run a bit short and include intro and stuff about my grad school work, but its not like a total joke.
c) They never came clean about it - so if I had fallen for it, I could have wasted several hours preparing such a presentation. Which would be pretty mean.

You can get revenge on them next year. :) Although, people really shouldn't pull practical jokes with work stuff. Like: "Ha ha! We secretly replaced your chemical solutions with water! April Fool's!"
