What's scary is that this wasn't some discount third-world airline, it was BA.
I take an average of one trans-Atlantic flight every two months.

A British Airways plane just crash-landed at Heathrow today. No deaths, though, that's really amazing.

And this has the potential to be first 777 hull loss. Still statistically safer than crossing the road...

(Actually, it would be sort of disturbing if they didn't write off the airframe...)
