I'm sure I couldn't return to grad school after thirty years if I had quit, but I guess you can get whatever you want when you're that rich. Why bother anyway? He already has (or has had) a career; I don't think he's planning to become an active researcher; and he obviously isn't that interested in astronomy, or he wouldn't have quit in the first place.

Apparently he's regained his interest in astronomy. Rock stardom would lure anyone away from grad school. My concern would be that any research that he did 30 years ago would be horribly outdated by now, but I guess stars don't change that much.

I just find that I like celebrities better if they have a PhD (even a European one). Like we have common values or something.

yeah, i know what you mean. i love it when they lower themselves to getting ph.d.s with the rabble.

Yea, there's someone who quit/took leave of absence from grad school to go on tour with his band over in the MIT bio department. I could totally see that. Now I just have to get the band back together...w
